Amarnath Yatra 2013 --> Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage that is organised by the Jammu and Kashmir government and Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB). It takes place during the month of sharavan (July and august) depending on the weather conditions and also decided by the poornima (Lunar eclipse). 

Every year lakhs of devotes devour on the pilgrimage to pay homage to Lord Shiva’s Shiva Linga as devotes call it, which is an ice stalagmite formed due the ice droplets that fall due to the melting snow inside the 130 ft. High Amarnath Cave. The Amarnath Yatra is also famous for its lush green surroundings and beautiful snow capped mountains that attract a large number of tourists as well.



Amarnath yatra 2013 Dates


Amarnath Yatra 2013 is expected to start from the Last Week of June, 2013 or Ist Week of July, 2013 and concludes on 20th August 2013 which is also Raksha Bandhan..However these Dates are only tentative and exact Dates will be decided by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board after taking into account the Weather conditions.

Last Date for Having Darshan of Shri Amarnath Ji: 20th August, 2013 (Raksha Bandhan)

Dates of Amarnath Yatra in 2012: In 2012, the Amarnath yatra started on 25th June,and concluded on 2nd August. In 2012, the yatra period was reduced to only 37 Days, there by making it the Shortest yatra Duration ever, for which there is large scale Criticism of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB)

Registration for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2013


Registration Process- It is mandatory for everyone taking the pilgrimage to have an Amarnath Yatra pass as it is done to ensure that the pilgrim is in stable health as the weather conditions in Amarnath can be very harsh.Moreover, yatra Registration ensures smooth Batch-wise conduct of yatra and provides several benefits to Registered yatris.

Registration can be done by two modes i.e. offline as well as online. 

Offline Registration: In Offline Registartion, the yatri will have to obtain the Yatra Registration form from the Designated Braches of J&K bank, Yes Bank all over the country. The Duly filled in Registration form along with Documents (Like Medical Certificate etc) must be submitted at the Yatra Registartion Counters of the J&K Bank.

After Submitting the form, the yatris will be given Yatra Permit that contains Yatra Batch, Date and Other Instructions.

In 2012, the Offline Registration is done by JK Bank, Yes Bank, Co-operative Banks and 100 Post Offices.More Details about Amarnath Yatra 2013 Registration will be updated soon on this page, once the Yatra Dates will be announced Officially.

Online Registration: For online registration, all you need to do is visit J&K official website to fill the form, make the Payment and receive the Yatra permit. There is no hard and fast rule for the acceptance of your form, it is done on the “First come first” basis. 

Insurance- The yatris are advised to get themselves insured before going on the pilgrimage as the expedition to Amarnath is full of dangerous treksIt is worth mentioing here that Registered Yatris with SASB are provided a Insurance Cover of Rs 1 Lakh during the Journey

Moreover the weather is also very unpredictable, and can turn from sunny to snowy in no time which may leave you stranded for days.

However, the registration dates for Amarnath Yatra 2013 are yet to be announced by the J&K govt after studying the weather conditions and other important key points. Generally, the dates are announced 40-45 days before the Yatra. So, keep a constant check and keep visiting official website of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board


Route of Amarnath Yatra

Amarnath Yatra Route- The Destination (Or Holy Cave) of Baba Amarnath Ji can be accessed from Baltal and the traditional Pahalgam route. 

Baltal Route: The Baltal route is a shorter one but also more dangerous as the climb is very steep.The Distance between Baltal and Holy Cave is only 14 Kms.

Pahalgam Route: The Pahalgam route is albeit more popular one as it also passes through Sheeshnag and Panchtarni which are also significant places according to the Hindu religion. The One Side Distance ie From Pahalgam to Holy Cave is 43 Kms
  • Pahalgam -Chandanwari - Pissu Top - Sheshnag - Panchtarni - Holy Cave
The Yatra can be undertaken by foot as many prefer to trek in serene mountains and enjoy the picturesque scenery along the way. While a helicopter can also be booked in Baltal and Srinagar that will drop you at a short distance from the cave.

Amarnath Yatra offers many attractions which should not be missed but viewed at least once. It establishes the inner connection with one’s soul as the scenic beauty of such places makes you forget about life’s little problems.
